2.1 Steps of AutoStatus configuration

Configuration Process

Enter the administrator menu Auto Status Configure.

According to the Jira project and issue type, AutoStatus delineates the issues whose status will change automatically (Automatic Issue Type) and the associated issues that affect its change (Link Issue Type).

The interface provides two visual modes: card and list, which display the Automatic Issue Type in the form of card or list respectively. The following figure shows the card and list modes respectively:

STEP 1. Add the Automatic Issue Type

That is, select which project / workflow scheme, and the workflow status of which problem type will change automatically. Click the position as shown in the figure to open the window of adding Automatic Issue Type. The following figure shows the card and list modes respectively:

Choose the Jira project or workflow scheme, and issue type that automatic issues will be, click Confirm.

Note: the priority of Jira project status influence is higher than that of workflow scheme, followed by all projects under workflow scheme.

STEP 2. Add the Link Issue Type

That is, select which project / issue type under the workflow scheme will affect the workflow state change of the Automatic Issue Type. On the corresponding Automatic Issue Type, click the position as shown in the figure to open the window of adding Link Issue Type. The following figure shows the card and list modes respectively:

Choose multiple Jira project / workflow schemes and issue type can that link issues will be in. Click Confirm. Note: According to the Automatic Issue Type of the project, only the problem type under the project can be selected as the linked Issue type, which is the same with the workflow scheme.

STEP 3. Set the status influence ranking and target status

In the card of Automatic Issue Type, click the following icon to open the “Status influence ranking and target status“ dialog. The following figure shows the card and list modes respectively:

In the window, you can drag the icon on the left of each row to change the sorting of status. The smaller the serial number, the higher the influence of status. The target status of automatic issues will be determined by the most influential status of all its linked issues. Learn more about Status influence ranking.

Next, you should set the corresponding Status of Automatic Issue Type for each Status of Link Issue Type. If the corresponding target status is <No status>, this status of linked issues will not affect the status of automatic issues.

After setting the status influence ranking and target status, click Confirm. At this point, the status of the automatic issues can automatically change according to the linked issues.

Status auto-change condition

There are some limits for status transition of JIRA workflow. First, there needs to be a workflow transition action from the original state to the target state; Second, a series of validators need to be passed in the conversion process, including permission verification and other user-defined verifications, such as field mandatory verification.

In order to make the status change of automatic issues more smooth, AutoStatus allows the above three conditions to be ignored when the status changes automatically.

Note: When the user in charge of changing the status of link issues does not have the permission to transition the automatic issue, then if "Dismiss permissions" is not checked, the permission verification will fail, and the user's operation will not make the status of automatic issues change successfully.

More Functions

Link Issue Type grouping

In view of the fact that there are many types of link issue that are not conducive to search, the function of grouping and displaying information is added, and the link issue type divided into groups can be deleted in batch at the same time.

Copy an Automatic Issue Type

Click the position as shown in the figure to copy the linked issue type to another Automatic Issue Type. The following figure shows the card and list modes respectively:

Select the project / workflow scheme and issue type, and confirm whether to check "keep the scheme of linked issue type" (unchecked: the link issue type of the copied project / workflow scheme will be replaced by the copied project / workflow scheme; checked: the link issue type of the copied project / workflow scheme will be copied intact), and click OK to complete the copy.

Note: if the copied project / workflow scheme is different from the workflow in the copied project / workflow scheme, a corresponding prompt will appear, and the status influence needs to be reconfigured.
